ReCO2gnition- captures the Zeitgeist of our time. Visionary fiction is fantastical writing that helps you imagine new worlds. It encompasses science fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism, and alternative timelines.

As the author of ReCo2gnition, I feel that the spiritualism is represented in the story through Dr. Richards searching to find his true self and overcome his problems to renew himself, which is synonymous with our current pandemic crisis where we are all searching to find stability, growth and renewal in a new era that will change the way we live. The story is a zeitgeist of our time which is very apt to our current real life pandemic crisis where we need to act diligently in the way we live in our environment currently and in the future. It represents each other seeking to find the inner hero in ourselves to overcome adversity personally and environmentally.
ReCO2gnition joined the Visionary Fiction Alliance, as the story is a perfect representation of Visionary Fiction which resonates with the protagonist’s vision to save the world from climate change and potential manmade nuclear disasters. The protagonist’s character typifies us as humans, where we can all empathise and relate to his struggle to overcome his own mental health problems, yet is the very reason which spurs him on to produce his genius innovative design solutions that help save the world. On his journey we feel the emotion of the protagonist embrace spiritualism, and develop a pursuit of esoteric wisdom that is found in artefacts and ancient religion that leads him to the doorway of a unique time travel portal. The spiritual wisdom from the ancient religion which relates to the mystical time travel in the story forms so that readers can imagine mystical myths from within themselves. Suggesting that time travel may have been thought of by ancient religions and related to the church, underpinning a connection between spiritualism and belief of the unexplained or possibilities of new technological advancements throughout generations. ReCo2gnition is an exemplar story of Visionary fiction which emphasises the future and envisions humanity’s transition into evolved consciousness of finding the answers to combat climate change, whilst accepting and overcoming mental health and using it as motivational and creative strength to help combat climate change.
The story uses the mystical palindrome TENET within the Sator Square as a time travel portal to save the world from being in oxygen debt from climate change and nuclear disasters. The main antagonist is a Chinese Shapeshifting Time Travelling Android Warrior which was inspired by the Chinese strong super power and economic growth that they have today, and that we fear in the West.
